StoryPages vs Wix

Wix hands you a canvas and tools. You are still the designer.

Where we are coming from

Wix is one of the most successful website builders ever made, and for a certain user it is genuinely the right pick: someone who enjoys arranging a page and wants total control over where every element sits.

Our audience is not that person. Authors, coaches, and consultants come to us having tried Wix and having stalled — not because it is broken, but because it hands you a canvas when what you wanted was a website.

We would rather you read this and choose correctly than sign up, hit the gap, and churn.

The honest matrix

Note the rows we lose. A table where the competitor does nothing is marketing, not analysis.

Where the difference actually shows up

01

The blank canvas problem

Drag-and-drop assumes the hard part is placement. For most business owners the hard part is deciding what the site should say and which pages should exist at all.

StoryPages inverts it: you describe the business, and the first thing you review is a sitemap with a reason attached to each page. Layout comes after structure, which is the order a good agency would use.

02

Everything that is not the website

A website is only useful if it captures and follows up. On Wix, the CRM and email pieces arrive as add-ons with their own pricing, and you assemble the connections.

On StoryPages the form, the contact record, the segment, and the campaign are one system, because that is where small businesses actually leak leads.

03

Maintenance is the real cost

Every Wix site we inherited from a client had the same problem: it was accurate on launch day and drifting ever since, because updating it meant a session in the editor that nobody scheduled.

When changing your pricing page is one sentence, the site stays true.

What you get instead

This is the whole starting interface.

No sub-accounts, no template gallery, no breakpoints. You describe the business; you approve a plan.

Where Wix is genuinely better

If two or more of these matter to you, choose Wix. We mean it.

Layout control

If you want to position an element precisely, Wix lets you. Our guided approach deliberately trades some of that freedom for speed.

App ecosystem

Wix has a huge marketplace covering niche needs we do not address.

Ecommerce depth

For a serious product catalogue with variants, shipping rules, and marketplace sync, Wix (or a dedicated ecommerce platform) is the stronger choice.

Brand familiarity

Your bookkeeper has heard of Wix. That is worth something when you are handing over access.

StoryPages vs Wix: common questions

Can I move my Wix site to StoryPages?
You rebuild rather than import — which sounds worse than it is, because the rebuild is a conversation. Bring your text and images; the structure gets proposed for you.
Is StoryPages cheaper than Wix?
Compare bundles rather than headline prices. Our $29 plan includes CRM, email, and funnels that are add-ons on Wix. See our pricing page for what each tier includes.
Does Wix do AI visibility?
Wix has SEO tools, but structured data depth, llms.txt, and AI-readability are not shipped as defaults the way they are here.
Can I keep my domain if I switch?
Yes. You point your existing domain at StoryPages; SSL is handled.
What if I want a designer to customise it?
You can direct design changes conversationally, and agencies use StoryPages exactly this way. For fully bespoke visual work, a design-first tool remains a better fit.

The fastest way to decide is to build the thing.
